Samui X Quad ATV Tour Review: Driver/Passenger, plus Lunch
So, you know, going on an ATV tour in Samui sounded just like your thing, a fun idea, right? I mean, who wouldn’t be just a little bit excited to see the island in a way that, too, it’s almost off the beaten path? Anyway, that’s why I picked the Samui X Quad ATV tour with the “driver/passenger plus lunch” package. We, that is, my travel buddy and I, thought that splitting driving duties while someone else took care of the food sounded good. Here’s the real story.
Booking the Adventure: Easy, Peasy? Not Really
You know, getting everything lined up definitely could have been simpler, really. I think their website works alright. As a matter of fact, it’s pretty easy on the eyes, however, getting specific details felt like pulling teeth, you know? For instance, finding the exact starting location required way too many clicks. The plus side, like your payment went through quickly. Just make sure you know what you’re doing, read what you’re clicking on! Still, at the end of the day, with some patience you could call it done, or what? As a matter of fact, you may have a really good adventure on the way.
Gearing Up and Getting Started: The Nitty-Gritty
Basically, once we actually arrived at the location, things picked up a little. They gave everyone helmets right away, you know? So, you want to dress expecting you’re probably going to get dusty. The staff there are all friendly, but their English, well, tends to be spotty, really. But, that’s kind of common in tourist places there. Before we got going, we got like a safety briefing which was pretty standard – how to handle the ATV, a little about the route. They also paired me up with a driving partner that had never driven anything ever. Should have had a better interview system to determine safe pairing.
The Ride Itself: Dust, Bumps, and (Okay) Scenery
So, now this is where things get real, right? A lot of reviews will tell you otherwise. As a matter of fact, it really is like it looks in the brochure! I’m just kidding! The actual ATV ride really is that. Just a ride. In fact, more like an obstacle course than anything else. Also, very, very dusty. When you think adventure, maybe your head goes to like gorgeous jungles, what about insane views? It had some glimpses of all of those, sure. Most of the time it was just kicking up dirt on backroads, very bumpy roads. Still, the ATVs were sturdy. Honestly, they could handle pretty rough handling, and it was exciting pushing it.
Lunch: Fueling Up… Or Something
You, so, like, when they said “lunch included,” my expectations probably were a bit higher than reality, alright? It wasn’t exactly like a gourmet meal, or anything. Actually, it was more like some easy dishes at a simple place that was a stop on the ride, kind of. It filled us up a bit, and it’s very difficult to be too picky when you have been bouncing around on an ATV, totally covered in dust, am I right? In the meantime, they sold ice cold beers and soda. But at the end of the day, let’s be real, you’re there for the ATVs, not really a five-star dining experience.
Driver/Passenger Dynamics: Tag, You’re It
You want to consider trading off with your co-pilot, too it’s almost critical, I think. In the same way, I wouldn’t sign up for this solo. You know, like that dust really does get everywhere. So, you know, sharing driving let each of us enjoy the scenery a little bit more (between choking on dust clouds, anyway). Seriously, bring glasses and maybe a bandanna! The driver has to pay very, very close attention to those roads.
Overall Impressions: Worth the Money?
You might think “Is the Samui X Quad ATV tour something to spend money on?” Well, actually, if you know what to be expecting, sure, why not? Now, it is not the cheapest thing to do in Samui. Still, there’s value if you want something beyond going to beaches and tourist traps. Was I totally thrilled by the ride? Nope. Basically, was I happy to just go see some of the island and splash in some puddles of water while covered in dirt? Of course, seriously! And at the end of the day, I love experiences, I’m just that person.
