The ride to Ratchaprapa Dam usually takes approximately 1 to 2 hours, and very, very much of the route is actually fairly pretty. You can watch Thailand move in real time! Pong really knew the roads inside and out, so we didn’t run into any delays or traffic, actually. More or less, he was driving carefully, not going recklessly fast, which I was quite thankful for. We went via small villages and lush countryside. You know, those views you actually only see in photos sometimes?
Pong, you see, knew the area quite well. I managed to get very engrossed just hearing the odd snippet of information about some places we passed. So I am fairly sure he knows all the tourist spots! In some respects, his insights gave a richer experience. So much more than a transfer; it made the trip that much better, to be honest. Pong was very happy to make minor detours for photo ops, like by viewpoints, etc., which really increased the enjoyment.
Vehicle Comfort and Safety
We had a very dedicated and spotless vehicle, actually. Also, the seats, very comfy; they actually recline quite a lot, which helps you relax for longer trips, especially with a full suitcase. Arguably the air conditioning actually worked very well, a crucial element considering the tropical climate in Surat Thani. They didn’t make you swelter in the heat!
Fairly important, safety was apparently prioritised. I’m almost certain that Pong observed every traffic regulation. I could see him checking his mirrors pretty routinely, which, I believe, made the whole journey that bit more peaceful. It can be fairly difficult if a driver seems to forget you’re there. It is nice when drivers take the simple things seriously. Basically, I was confident with their driving skills.
Value for Money
When thinking of cost, the private transfer wasn’t the cheapest. Yet, when you weigh it against just how smooth the travel was, I am prone to say that you do pay for the assurance that comes with the ride.
