Iguazu Guided Hike and Kayak/SUP River Tour Review With Transfer

So, you’re thinking of experiencing Iguazu Falls, huh? Well, more specifically, you’re checking out the ‘Iguazu Guided Hike and Kayak or SUP River Tour With Transfer’. You know, it’s almost one of those activities that sounds pretty cool on paper but you just want to be very certain it’s actually worth your time and money. This review gives you the scoop, very much detailing what to expect, is that things you should probably know before you book, and whether or not I personally feel it’s a great addition to your Iguazu adventure. I had to actually see what this tour brought to the table – or, rather, to the rainforest and river. Here is what happened.

First Impressions and Smooth Transfers

Iguazu Falls transfer service

Very early starts are part for the course when it comes to exploring major landmarks, and this day was no exception, very much with the bonus of not stressing about how to actually get to the meeting place! They do say the tour comes with included transfers. And it definitely does. A driver picked us up right from our hotel, very conveniently right on time. Is that a really solid beginning. The vehicle was nice, you know, comfortable enough, and the driver, very respectfully introduced themselves and confirmed our tour. You know, it’s just little things like that that sort of put your mind at ease. The drive itself to the starting point was scenic. We actually passed through some of the local towns, that offered, in a way, a peek into daily life around Iguazu. When we arrived, everything was pretty well organized. The guides were already there, too, and they gave a quick rundown of the day. Overall? Getting there and getting started? Smooth. A super pleasant, simple start which you are certainly hoping for.

The Hike: Into the Rainforest

Iguazu Falls rainforest hike

The hiking portion was arguably what I was especially excited about. I feel walking right in the rainforest gives a greater appreciation for the entire environment around Iguazu Falls. The trails? Not too challenging. Even someone with a reasonable, average fitness level should have no problems. You’ll still want decent shoes though, of course! Our guide, well, very knowledgeable, would point out various plants, that explain their traditional uses and medicinal properties by the local communities. He was so awesome in providing many bits of info on the wildlife. I even caught sight of some cool birds that I definitely could not name! Yet, what really set this apart was, of course, not just spotting cool plants and birds (which was fantastic), but the way the guide told of it. In short, it brought the whole rainforest to life. It’s so important, I believe, to keep the whole hike interactive with the tour guide. Also, the trails led us closer to the river, so the hike gives views of the water.

Kayaking/SUP on the River: An Immersive Experience

Next? The kayaking. Or SUP, if you were feeling that vibe instead. That’s actually cool you get to pick. The river part… Very calm, surprisingly. You don’t need to be some mega-athlete, you see, to handle this. Safety instructions were very clear and concise. They provided all the stuff needed, so too it’s helmets and life jackets, that always puts my mind at ease. As I was saying, getting out onto the water gives you very different viewpoint, I think, of the rainforest. Very peacefully paddling along, and taking in the surroundings, as a matter of fact, was beautiful and meditative. And when the sun hits the water? Totally gorgeous. I did hear a couple of other people on the tour opted for SUP, that actually looked super relaxing. Arguably, the only minor thing is the amount of time dedicated to the river activity. I’d have honestly liked another hour or so out there! But, then, that’s probably just me really loving being on the water. If, I think, you’re new to kayaking/SUP, the time is very sufficient to feel you’ve had a pretty decent go.

Photo Opportunities and Lasting Memories

Iguazu Falls photo opportunities

For those social media enthusiasts amongst you, there are countless photo opportunities, actually. I made sure my phone was charged before starting! From neat rainforest scenes during the hike, to striking river shots whilst kayaking, yet you will almost certainly return home with some seriously frame-worthy shots. Speaking of photos: don’t be shy about asking the guide, actually, to snap a couple of you! Very happy to do so. By the end of the day, anyway, I’m telling you that you don’t just walk away with photos but you take away this awesome sensory memory of everything you’ve felt, viewed and absorbed during the entire day. Very corny of me, granted.

Is This Tour Really Worth It?

At the close of it all, actually, would I suggest this tour to other travelers visiting Iguazu Falls? Completely. You know, it’s not just seeing the falls from the walkways (which is, in itself, awesome). It’s arguably that this tour puts you *in* the environment. Very much experiencing the rainforest and the river in a very personal manner. If you’re searching, arguably, for something a bit more active, that still lets you completely appreciate the beauty of Iguazu, then yeah, do it.

  • Smooth Transfers: Actually removes stress from getting to the meeting place.
  • Rainforest Immersion: See the Falls in such different way!
  • Activity Choice: Option for kayak and SUP.
