It’s that Greek island just packed with dazzling whitewashed buildings, postcard-worthy sunsets, and an energy that’s pretty much infectious. I mean, you’re looking at these picture-perfect spots, so very, very ready for a photoshoot. Booking a vacation photographer seemed like the next right step in making this adventure even more memorable, capturing those incredible moments in ways my shaky tourist selfies just never could. It seemed like a cool idea.

Why I Considered a Vacation Photographer

So, let’s think about it. You go to a place that is super scenic like Mykonos, too it’s almost screaming for professional pictures, right? Websites such as local listings to specialized travel photography platforms. I mean, there are many options to sift through, and too it’s almost challenging to really see what I was hoping for.

I began the review of portfolios. What’s their style? Do their shots look posed and unnatural, very likely no, or more natural? And importantly, are the pictures in locations that I was really hoping to go myself? And that’s how my approach was going to proceed. After building up some options I narrowed it down to a shortlist. Contacting each directly, getting quotes, and seeing what locations and photoshoot ideas that were doable in my timeframe. The person’s vibes were also a big part of my decision: I really just sought someone who understood my vision. That would also work well in the somewhat tight schedule that I was working on.

The Photo Shoot: Expectations vs. Reality

He absolutely knew the area inside out. We were taken to little hidden courtyards and angles I surely never would have spotted all alone. Very good too that he was skilled with handling the crazy lighting. He was quite able to turn harsh sun into some very stunning backlight. He clearly provided some easy, really gentle advice that ensured I wasn’t left unsure about what to do. As a matter of fact, what started like a slightly tense photoshoot morphed into this enjoyable and relaxed tour around Mykonos. It actually became a part of our day as tourists. That actually turned it from a simple set of photographs to that of an adventure!

Post-Shoot: The Final Product

Okay, let’s chat about the moment you view your photographs post shoot. The waiting time felt pretty difficult to endure! When the email hit my inbox, so I ripped it open ready to assess our new vacation shots.

What came next was nice: images that didn’t feel very forced or cheesy but perfectly expressed the environment of the town that day.
