7 Days in Egypt: Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor & Aswan Private Tour Review

Dreaming of seeing Egypt’s ancient wonders? That trip sounds really amazing, actually. You’re probably thinking about the pyramids, right? So, it’s also likely you’ve had a peek at some tours covering Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan. I mean, that’s just like hitting all the highlight reels! This review? It’s about a 7-day private tour doing just that – and if it holds up, honestly.

First Impressions: What to Anticipate

Cairo Cityscape

You might be asking, what makes a private tour stand out, I guess? It’s probably about ease, and maybe seeing stuff at your speed. That said, this 7-day gig aims for that: Cairo’s commotion, Alexandria’s shores, and Luxor and Aswan’s ancient vibes. It promises a peek at pretty much every major stop, but without, you know, feeling hurried. It kinda gives you the time to almost soak everything in.

Cairo: Where It Begins

Giza Pyramids

Alright, Cairo, of course. The big starter. So the tour kicked off in Cairo. We spent what seemed like forever at the Giza pyramids, too, of course. It’s pretty amazing just how close you get. So, also, there’s the Sphinx. You know, that thing. I almost expected a riddle, frankly. Now, what I did not expect, is a papyrus “museum.” You may even get swindled if you don’t watch out! So be smart!

The Egyptian Museum, though? Wow. You probably need a week in that joint, actually. So many statues. So many things with hieroglyphs on ’em. Tutankhamun’s stuff? It’s actually shiny in reality. The guide really knew his stuff. He knew exactly where to find things. So it felt more like an adventure. You also visit some churches. The Hanging Church. Ben Ezra Synagogue, too, if I’m not mistaken. Anyway, the history there is, like, a thick soup. Each place seems to whisper another chapter, really.

Alexandria: The Coastal Gem

Alexandria Egypt Coast

Then comes Alexandria. It might be a pretty big difference from crazy Cairo. It seems a lot chiller by the sea. Pompey’s Pillar seems to, like, rise from the ground, you see it from miles. Anyway, so you almost can’t imagine what all went on around it centuries back. The catacombs at Kom El Shoqafa, right? So the catacombs might be kinda spooky, yet neat. I kinda had a flashback to some Indiana Jones flick in there, actually.

But the big stop: the Library of Alexandria. A very massive place devoted to, of course, the knowledge that they lost a long time ago, I’m almost sure. Now, there is a bit of sadness there too, maybe? How so many things got burnt in the past. Regardless, it has all these displays that illustrate different writings through history. Maybe skip the street meat and only drink bottled beverages from reputable manufacturers to avoid sickness!

Luxor: Temples and Tombs

Luxor Temple at Night

Alright, next stop. Luxor! That is also where stuff gets extremely old. Karnak Temple. Its pillars. That’s actually kinda hard to understand at first glance. Almost as if made for giants, you may think. Hatshepsut’s Temple has such a very, very interesting look, anyway. Almost doesn’t seem Egyptian at all, so it feels a bit foreign. That is actually all thanks to the cliffs towering over it, right? That creates all sorts of drama.

But Valley of the Kings, right? You need Indiana Jones’ dad to get through there. So many royal people resting there. You get into some tombs, right? Now you just need a torch, but you already see wall paintings with tons of color after so long, you see. Some colors you thought don’t exist. Almost makes you believe in an afterlife. And the hot air ballooning over the city is almost mandatory.

Aswan: Nubian Treasures and Nile Views

Aswan Nile River

Ending in Aswan? That city felt more relaxed. I actually enjoyed that after the last bit, anyway. Philae Temple looks actually gorgeous. That location of that thing? Awesome! The Nile all around makes it into like a water garden, so it makes sense, actually.

Abu Simbel is such a trek. You will probably wanna have the guide get it all fixed for you, frankly. That temple, right? Massive. Ramesses II was also very proud of himself when he created that. Seems the sun lights up the inside twice per year too, anyway. Just something you can probably boast with! Take a boat ride on the Nile as well. And get an authentic Nubian Souvenir! Anyway, maybe enjoy how silent the trip becomes. So many water sounds. That actually puts you at ease, as a matter of fact.

The Guide and the Crew: What Makes a Tour?

Egyptian Tour Guide

Our tour actually needed some fixing, frankly. The guide really knew things! Lucky us! Anyway, he probably understood so much, and answered basically all the stuff we had, and didn’t give us, like, rehearsed speeches or anything. It felt like an old friend telling us tales! All the driving was done, and airport things sorted. No problem at all. You may want to tip these blokes!

What Could be Better?

Egypt Scam

Few small stuff got pretty annoying. Places they take you can get kinda tiring! Always trying to get more out of your wallet! Like the papyrus store! So be on the watch. Negotiate everything. Every time. And perhaps get someone with some local standing!

Final Thoughts: Is This Tour Worth It?

So, after all those temples and tales, right? Can I endorse that trip? Maybe! So I got to basically visit the main stuff I desired without needing to drive or mind any tiny stuff. Anyway, it’s almost worth doing, and skipping a couple of things to remain independent is actually fine!
